Heartbleed Bug Information
The security vulnerability called "Heartbleed" only affects websites that use an OpenSSL, or open source encryption technology. Pacific Crest continually evaluates its systems and potential vulnerabilities. We are not susceptible to this issue. Pacific Crest Credit Union members can be assured that neither our website, pacificcrestfcu.com, or our online banking systems were affected. The security of your financial information is our highest priority.
Enhanced Security Measures
Pacific Crest Introduces new security enhancements to protect your credit/debit card from fraudulent card activity. Pacific Crest has taken steps to improve the security features on our credit/debit cards from fraudulent card activity. Effective immediately, high-risk transactions may generate a call to you if we suspect possible fraudulent use. This means you may receive a call from the Card Security Center validating suspicious card activity. It is important that you validate the card activity. If you are unavailable, a message will be left on your phone to call the Card Security Center on a toll free number. Please make sure that Pacific Crest has your cell phone number to contact you immediately if there is a fraudulent card transaction. If you are traveling abroad, or making large-dollar purchases outside of your normal spending patterns, please contact Pacific Crest at 541-884-1376 or 1-800-570-0265 and we can notate on your account and take the appropriate steps to ensure your card transactions are not affected by the enhanced security measures.
Attention Debit Card Users:
Monday, October 7, 2013
Pacific Crest Federal Credit Union has received numerous Fraud Alerts notifying us of fraudulent debit card activity in approximately four states and one foreign country. Counterfeit debit cards are being used. In order to protect our credit union and our members, we are blocking signature transactions from the following states: Alabama, Georgia, New York, and Texas as well as the countries of France, India and Brazil. Our members living in or traveling in those areas can use PIN transactions on their cards. Our members can use normal debit card transactions in Oregon and other states that are not blocked. We are hoping this will only need to be a temporary measure to protect our members. We will keep you informed as we learn of additional information. (Keep in mind that your Pacific Crest Visa credit card will work for any signature transactions. This alert is only for the debit card and does not affect your Pacific Crest Visa card.) Thank you for your patience.
